Blood In Urine
Have you ever found blood in your urine?
Have you ever woken up in the morning feeling fine and all of a sudden a trip to the bathroom left you uncomfortable?
You’ve seen some blood and all of a sudden your mind is racing… Finding blood in your urine can be extremely frightening, but with some awareness and the right help, you can put your mind at ease. We at Ultrasound-Care Scanning Services Ltd understand that you would want to find the answers to your worries as quickly as possible. We offer various diagnostic scans relating to male and female conditions under our fully qualified Doctors of Radiology and Sonographers.
So what does it mean when you see blood in your urine? Any blood in the urine can be a sign of serious health problems, even if it only happens once. The medical term for blood in urine is also known as Hematuria and even initial signs should not be ignored as it can be early indications of more serious health issues. Blood in the urine may originate from the kidneys and other parts of the urinary tract. The blood may appear bright red or brown in colour.
But where is it coming from? The kidneys or other parts of the urinary tract are allowing blood cells to leak into your urine. There are various problems which can cause this leakage, minor issues such as urinary tract infections or kidney infections (pyelonephritis); slightly more serious such as a bladder or kidney stone; and more worrying still, enlarged prostate, kidney disease or cancer. There may be other symptoms associated with blood that could help to determine the underlying cause, including discomfort when urinating, frequently urinating, unexplainable weight loss and urgent urinating.
We know that even just seeing blood in your urine can cause a panic and the pain of water retention can make your mind race. At Ultrasound Care we can help to put your mind at rest and give you some much needed answers. We offer Prostate, Kidney and Bladder Scans for Men and Kidney, Ureter and Bladder Scans for Women. This scan enables us to check the shape, size and condition of the bladder, both the kidneys and the ureters, the existence of any Urinary Tract Infections and stones or any obstructions in the kidney and bladder. We also examine the bladder volume and emptying. A full diagnostic report will be compiled for you to take home on the same day of your scan. You are then advised to provide this report to your GP, for further investigations if required.
At Ultrasound Care it’s our job to ascertain the problem, if there is any, and offer you the right scan in relation to your symptoms at an affordable price without having to wait to see your GP first. Male or female, pain or no pain, finding blood in your urine can be startling.
